Daybook Entry

Young Woman's Daybook ~ Tuesday, August 24, 2010

Outside My Window... It's hot as blue blazes in East Texas. We've gotten some rain the last couple of days, and allegedly there is a summertime cold front headed our way to knock the humidity down from eleven.

I am thinking... The changes we've made in the last going on two years are astronomical, even though they've been hard. The changes aren't over yet; other things may change even after Sarah arrives, and it's my prayer they're all for the better.

I am thankful for... My husband - even when I get discouraged and feel like we're not really doing anything more than treading water more effectively than we were a year ago, I have John here, and honestly I can do absolutely anything with his support and love.

From the kitchen... I'm considering taking a stab at homemade bread again. It's funny how changes in altitude and humidity affect yeast rising properly, but I think it's about time to give it another go. I've not really been in a baking place lately, but John likes it and it does taste better than store-bought bread, so it's probably time.

I am wearing... My little maternity "uniform" - t-shirt, pants, and a 3/4 sleeve cardigan. I got a pair of Clark's Privo Pateo Flats at the store and am in love with them. They have the good tread on the bottom so I don't slip, and the inside has what our shoe buyer called a massage insole, and it feels wonderful. (No, I did not pay $70 for them either. I'm way too cheap for that.)

I am creating... Sarah's letters are ready to go up in her room, and I'm anxiously waiting for Mom and Zane to come Labor Day weekend so we can get her dresser set up and stocked.

I am going... We have an infant safety and CPR class tomorrow night at the hospital, and my next doctor's appointment is September 3rd.

I am reading... As usual, about four things at once. One of these days I'm going to finish So Long Insecurity by Beth Moore. What to Expect is on my nightstand, and I'm working through a couple of work-related books too.

I am hoping... Things work out on a couple of uncertain fronts - mainly that John gets some peace regarding things going on at work, and that Sarah arrives healthy and safe as soon as possible.

I am hearing... Matt Maher on Pandora - "Hold Us Together" is one of my new favorite songs.

Around the house... We're just getting ready for Sarah. I think I'm starting to nest, because I'm cleaning a lot and wanting to make sure things are put away and organized.

One of my favorite things... This summer it's been roasted zucchini squash. I could eat it every day and not get tired of it - hope that means Sarah will be good about eating her veggies when she's a little older!

A few plans for the rest of the week... John has to make a trip to a new store location, so I'm planning on puttering around the house and looking at some of the things we already have for Sarah. My mom sent a box of things, and I'm loving going through the outfits and thinking about which ones Sarah might wear first.

The Lord is teaching me... More about patience, and the things that I really can handle so long as I know where to place my trust. I'm a little frustrated with a couple of situations right now and am not sure exactly what direction is right, but am trying to remember to be still and make sure I'm not just hearing what I want to hear.
